This is when it’s time for a sidechain compressor, by adding one to the opera singer and referencing it to the drum so that whenever he hits the drum, her voice reduces in volume temporarily. Whenever he hits the drum while she’s singing, her voice drowns it out. Now imagine a guy with a bass drum comes on stage and starts playing with her.
